What makes you more than just a cog in the machine? Does your work have fingerprints all over them?
These are important questions Seth Godin raised and probably difficult ones to answer if you are not quite there yet. Here are my answers to the questions from assigment #2.
What do people buy when they buy something from you?
I have not been freelancing recently, but I think people approach me because they know their job will be done stress-free. Also, my ability to understand the client’s needs makes the process less cumbersome and smooth for them.
Leave out the easy, repetitive, generic stuff… What you are doing that’s difficult?
If I have to evaluate my current skill sets, I am not exactly doing anything that is difficult or cannot be done by someone else. I think the only advantage I have over other designers is my experience in being a client as well as working for a client which gives me a broader perspective on how to approach a project. In terms of skills the combination of having a basic understanding of web design, decent branding and project management skills is a plus. I would like to think I operate like a mini agency.
